Fulani men of the Wodaabe group in Niger
They are wearing the Maat feather found across Africa
In the Wodaabe group, men perform dances at the Geerewol ceremony and women choose a lover or a fiancé among the dancers.
Legacy is still matrilineal among the Wodaabe. This group remains fundamentally anchored in the African matriarchal tradition, whereas the Islamized Fulanis have adopted patriarchy.
